Can you take over a system another team built?

Yes, and it’s a common starting point. We do a short technical assessment — codebase, infrastructure, integrations, operational state — then propose either modernization in place or a phased rebuild based on what’s worth keeping.

How long does modernization typically take?

Small targeted modernization (one module, single integration): 2-4 months. Full system modernization with phased migration: 6-18 months depending on scope and operational risk tolerance. We scope each engagement explicitly during discovery.

What about risk — modernization projects famously fail?

Yes, big-bang rebuilds fail. We default to phased migration patterns (strangler, dual-write, percentage rollout) that keep the old system running while the new one grows alongside it. Failure modes are smaller and recoverable.

How do you handle continuity during modernization?

The legacy system keeps running until the new one has proven itself in production for each capability. Cutover is per-module, not per-system. Customer experience doesn’t break during transition.

What’s the typical cost?

Depends entirely on scope. Targeted modernization (one module) starts in the low six figures. Full enterprise modernization can run into the seven figures over 12-18 months. We scope explicitly and price as fixed milestones, not open-ended T&M.
